Report Cards: What do I do now?
We were happy to see you at Parent-Teacher Conferences today! Now that they are over, you are likely thinking about what you can do to help support your child's learning and academic progress. I share these resources with you to guide your reflection:
Build Bold Futures - Archdiocese of New York - Resources for Parents
This website has relevant information to help you understand the Common Core standards which make up your child's Math and ELA grades. They include grade and subject level documents that explain the standards and offer tips for how you can help your child at home.
Reading Rockets has tons of information for parents to get advice on how to help a struggling reader. We encourage you to read to your child, in any language, every day.
Here you can find all of the information you need about the current common core curriculum and the way that we are teaching both ELA and Math at OLMCSB. There are also parent resources to help you navigate the standards based curriculum.
For Grades K-5, there is a free online math program called Zearn. Our students use it in school and should be familiar with it. They can login with their school accounts and get practice at home. Please contact your teacher for your child's login.
Raz-Kids is a reading development program for grades K-5. We use it in our school. Contact your child's teacher to find out how to use it at home.
Blended Learning Initiative
As you may have read in Catholic New York, our school has been selected as one of the Blended Learning Pilot schools for the Archdiocese of New York. Not only do we have at least 15 Chromebooks in each classroom, our teachers will be trained in using this technology in a way that will allow us make sure that every student is learning at the level that they need.
